For those not in the know, Zaxby’s is well-loved for its tasty chicken fingers, crispy salads, and mouthwatering chicken sandwiches. If you’re a fan of fried pickles and cheddar bites, you’ll be right at home. In addition to the new Leavenworth location, you can indulge in Zaxby’s delights at these existing spots:

What Happened in Johnson County?

Interestingly, Zaxby’s said goodbye to its last Johnson County location at 12195 S. Strang Line Road in Olathe, which had been serving customers for seven long years. Before that, the Overland Park outlet at 9500 W. 135th St. also closed its doors. It’s a bittersweet farewell for fans in that region, especially with the arrival of the new spot in Leavenworth.

First Impressions of Leavenworth’s Zaxby’s

The brand-new Zaxby’s in Leavenworth is a spacious 3,400 square feet and offers seating for around 58 diners inside. Perfect for family meals or grabbing a bite with friends! And for those on the go, you’ll be excited to know that this restaurant features a drive-thru service, making it super convenient to grab your favorite chicken fix.

Big Plans for Expansion

Zaxby’s isn’t just stopping at Leavenworth. There are ambitious plans in the works for more locations in the Kansas City area! Two franchisees, Royal Chicken Holdings LLC and Organized Chickenz, are planning to open multiple Zaxby’s restaurants. Royal Chicken Holdings LLC has set a goal to introduce a dozen new locations in Johnson County, with seven south and five north of Interstate 435.

Meanwhile, franchisee Steve Dailey also has his eyes on growth, with plans for more openings, including a new Overland Park location at 9510 W. 135th St. set to debut in August, followed closely by another spot in Olathe.

More Locations Coming Soon!

Organized Chickenz isn’t slacking either! They have plans to roll out five Zaxby’s locations over the next five years, with two already under construction. One of these exciting new spots is situated at 2035 N. 109th St. in Kansas City, Kansas, and is anticipating an opening date of April 4. Let’s not forget the site on 4661 Bauer Farm Drive in Lawrence, which is expected to welcome diners in November or December.

Additionally, franchisee Mike Schneidereit, who’s relocating from New Jersey, has plans in the pipeline for even more locations in Lawrence and Leavenworth or Lansing. It looks like the chicken charm of Zaxby’s is here to stay!

A Little History on Zaxby’s

For those curious about where it all began, Zaxby’s was founded in 1990 in Statesboro, Georgia, by Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley. Over the years, the chain has exploded in popularity and now boasts over 700 locations across 16 states. Their menu is packed with variety, offering everything from sides like Tater Chips and spicy fried mushrooms to a plethora of dipping sauces that perfectly complement their chicken dishes.
