Hey there, Kansas City! If you’re planning to hit the open road shortly, or you’re already out and about, you might want to tune in for the latest scoop on traffic conditions. It’s been a busy day on our highways, with multiple incidents reported. Let’s break down what’s happening so you can navigate your travels better!
A broken-down vehicle has been causing some headaches on eastbound I-35 between US-56 and Lone Elm Road. This snag was reported just after 7:47 PM and stretches about 590 feet, so be prepared for some slowed traffic if you’re heading that way!
There’s also a crash on eastbound I-35 reported earlier today. The incident is located between Old K-56 and 119th Street, impacting nearly 0.79 miles. The crash was first noted at 6:11 PM this evening, and we’ve received updates as late as 6:29 PM that traffic is still affected.
On the flip side of the city, if you’re heading northbound on I-35, be aware there’s another broken-down vehicle causing a slight delay. Strategically placed from Southwest Boulevard to 20th Street, this incident affects 440 feet and was reported around 5:01 PM. Updates have been coming out quickly, so make sure to stay alert if you’re in that area!
Things are just as hectic on southbound I-435 too! There’s a crash causing trouble from I-70 to Eastwood Trafficway, measuring 0.80 miles long. This alert was shared at 1:18 PM, followed by updates shortly after that. If you’re in that neck of the woods, it might be a good idea to take alternative routes!
Over in Overland Park, be ready for a road closure on U.S. 50 between exit 82 and I-435 East. The closure warning was put out just before 11:09 PM. So if you planned on hitting that part of town, you might have to find another way!
On the north side, there’s another crash reported on I-29 between Cookingham Drive and I-435. This incident is impacting about 460 feet and was reported tonight around 9:33 PM. It’s definitely one of those evenings where patience is going to be key if you’re heading that direction.
Multiple other reports of broken-down vehicles are coming in across various highways. For instance, there’s a broken-down vehicle causing a delay on northbound I-635, and be cautious of additional breakdowns happening on US-71 as well. It’s almost like these vehicles are throwing a party on the highway!
In summary, it’s pedal to the metal but not in a good way out there today. Keep your eyes on the road and stay tuned for the latest if you’re heading out. Traffic jargon might not be anyone’s idea of fun, but being in the know lets you tackle your journeys just a little smoother. Safe travels, and let’s hope tomorrow brings a bit more of that sweet, sweet open road!
