Broken Down Vehicles Cause Slowdowns

Oh, those pesky broken down vehicles! They’ve been popping up all over. For starters, we have a broken down vehicle on I-29/I-35 from the MO-210/Armour Road/Exit 6 to Parvin Road/Exit 8. This is a stretch of 660 feet that started causing issues around 6:52 PM Monday. The latest update was at 7:32 PM, so keep that in mind if you’re planning on heading that way!

Not far off, there’s another broken down vehicle on I-35 in Overland Park. This one’s causing problems between 75th Street/Exit 227 and 67th Street/Exit 228. It’s affecting about 290 feet of road and was reported at 5:32 PM, with the latest info released an hour and a half later at 7:08 PM.

Incident Highlights from the Day

  • I-35 in Kansas City: A broken down vehicle affecting 290 feet was reported around 3:04 PM, with updates following soon after.

  • Lane Closure: One lane of I-435 in Shawnee is closed from Shawnee Mission Parkway/Exit 6 to Midland Drive/Exit 5, causing a delay of around 70 feet since early Monday morning.

The trend didn’t stop there. Just when you thought things calmed down, a broken down vehicle on Askew Avenue between itself and I-70 West became another point of concern, affecting almost a block in length at 910 feet! Update on that one was provided shortly after it was reported.

And to top it off, there were reports about broken down vehicles on I-70 too, causing delays between Blue Ridge Cut Off/Exit 9 and Sterling Avenue/Exit 10 that kept extending throughout the day.
