In an unprecedented traffic enforcement effort in Independence, Missouri, over 160 vehicles were reportedly pulled over by various law enforcement agencies. The operation occurred on major roadways, primarily targeting areas known for high numbers of accidents and impaired driving cases.
On Saturday, July 13, Independence, Missouri, experienced an unexpected traffic enforcement effort involving multiple law-enforcement agencies. The Independence Police Department, five members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), and three officers from the Sugar Creek Police Department collectively carried out this operation. The extensive effort began at approximately 11 in the morning, with the primary focus on highways, interstates, and other major routes within the area.
The operation mainly focused on regions around the city that traditionally experience a high number of traffic collisions and instances of impaired driving. To help identify aggressive drivers, the Missouri State Highway Patrol deployed its fixed-wing aircraft during the operation.
As a result of the joint action, law enforcement officials managed to stop a total of 166 vehicles. Among these, 109 were identified as hazardous moving violations and 92 as non-moving violations. Along with these, two arrests were made on charges of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). No extra details regarding the operation were available as of 9:45 p.m.
