Hey Kansas City! It looks like our highways are a bit busier than usual today with several broken down vehicles causing some delays across major routes. But don’t worry, we’re here to keep you in the know so you can plan your travels accordingly!
First up, there’s a broken down vehicle on I-35 North between Johnson Drive (Exit 229) and Antioch Road (Exit 230). This incident is causing issues for roughly 390 feet. It was reported late last night at 9:16 p.m., and the latest news about it came in at 9:28 p.m.. So, keep that in mind if you’re heading that way!
If you’re driving near Overland Park, be aware of another broken down vehicle on the Monarch Highway between Exit 225A and I-35 North. This one stretches across approximately 280 feet. The initial alert came at 7:25 p.m., with a follow-up just ten minutes later. Stay safe out there!
Next, we have a broken down vehicle on I-35 East from 119th Street (Exit 220) to I-435 (Exit 222), affecting about 630 feet. This was reported around 4:17 p.m. and updated shortly after at 4:29 p.m.. Think about taking a different route if you can.

There are two reports of issues on I-70 East as well. One is from Blue Ridge Cut Off (Exit 9) to Sterling Avenue (Exit 10), impacting a good 540 feet. Another between Jackson Avenue (Exit 5) and Van Brunt Boulevard (Exit 6) affecting 50 feet. These alerts came in at various times throughout the evening from around 5:59 p.m. to 6:06 p.m..
Oh, and attention drivers! There’s a crash reported on I-70 between Jackson Avenue (Exit 5) and Van Brunt Boulevard (Exit 6) impacting about 270 feet. If you’re traveling in that direction, be prepared for some delays!
In Overland Park, keep an eye out for lane closures on US-69. There are multiple incidents, including a closure between 95th Street and College Boulevard, and 119th Street and 135th Street, which could lengthen your travel time if you’re commuting through that area.
