In a bid to support Special Olympics Kansas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run is set to host a give-back night at Freddy’s across Topeka and nearby areas. This special event is designed to support deserving athletes through a night of dining and funding.
Confirmed by the Special Olympics Kansas officials, the give-back night is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. As part of the give-back scheme, a total of 15% of all sales made between these hours will directly fund the Special Olympics Kansas and Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Several branches of Freddy’s are participating in the noble cause, each one readying themselves to welcome patrons who wish to enjoy a meal while supporting an outstanding cause. The participating Freddy’s locations include:
Special Olympics Kansas is an outstanding non-profit organization that focuses on providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Their primary aim is to empower athletes, promote acceptance and inclusivity, and improve the quality of life for individuals with intellectual disabilities through the impact of sports.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics is the largest public awareness and fundraising program of Special Olympics globally. Law enforcement officials and Special Olympics athletes worldwide carry the “Flame of Hope” through the streets of their communities leading up to the opening ceremony of local, national, or international Special Olympics games. The fund-raising efforts of the participants go directly to support the local, national, and international Special Olympics Programs.
The community is urged to participate in the special night and enjoy a meal at one of the participating Freddy’s locations. The dining experience will not just fill the stomachs of the patrons but also fill the hearts of deserving Special Olympics athletes. We encourage community members to come forward and be a part of this noble initiative.
