Kansas City, MO – Deep in the Heart of the Comedy Scene

The heartland of football and humor, Kansas City, Missouri, was filled with laughter as fans were treated to a reprisal of an old favorite skit from “Saturday Night Live”. The skit starred none other than famous comedian Jason Sudeikis, along with Robert Smigel, George Wendt, and the city’s beloved tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce. The laugh-fest unfolded during the Big Slick Show, which took place at the Celebrity Weekend events of June 1st.

Taking a Friendly Jab at Travis Kelce and the Chiefs

Enacting the loved characters Carl Wollarski and Bob Swersky from “Super Fans” skit, Sudeikis, Wendt, and Smigel brought laughter by taking light-hearted shots at the city’s pro-sport teams. The comedians extended their humor to address the Jackson County taxpayers for their decision against a tax increase meant to keep the Chiefs and Royals in the city. The infamous Chiefsaholic, known for his unwavering dedication to the team, was also humorously involved in the dialogue.

A Romantic Proposal and a Mustache Admiration

In an hilarious turn of events, Sudeikis–donning a floppy mustache–put Kelce in the spotlight by proposing that Kelce’s girlfriend, the international superstar Taylor Swift, should handle the bill. Not stopping at this, he extended his humor to bring in an amusing “marriage proposal” between Kelce and Swift.

“Travis, real talk, just the guys here… Trav… When are you gonna make an honest woman out of her” Sudeikis teased. “Look, Taylor doesn’t need to be working anymore, and look, I know your kicker agrees with me.”

The humorous trio didn’t stop at romantic jests. They also poked fun at Kelce for his known dust-up with Head Coach Andy Reid during the 2024 Super Bowl. They additionally marveled at Reid’s signature mustache characteristics – frozen or not.

A Homage to Chris Farley and a Cause for Charity

The skit served not only to entertain fans and support the Chiefs’ upcoming season, but it also aimed to honor Chris Farley by following his slapstick legacy. While Kelce, Sudeikis, Wendt, and Smigel impersonated their respective SNL characters, they also made sure to keep the philanthropic vein of the event alive. A part of the proceeds from the show was donated towards life-saving healthcare and research at the Children’s Mercy Hospital, thereby making it a memorable event combining humor, kind-hearted sporting rivalry, and philanthropy.
