Platte County Woman Receives Seven-Year Sentence for Series of Thefts Totaling $67,000 in Merchandise

Platte County Woman Sentenced for Stealing Over $60,000 in Merchandise

Kansas City, MO — In a recent turn of events, a woman from Kansas City has received a significant sentence for her role in a series of thefts that captured local headlines. Asia Marshall, 20, was sentenced in **Platte County Circuit Court** on August 15, after pleading guilty to multiple counts involving the theft of nearly **$67,000** worth of merchandise from various retailers across the Kansas City metro area.

The Crimes

Court documents reveal a troubling pattern of behavior from Marshall, who, alongside accomplices, would enter stores and fill shopping bags with items before leaving without paying. These thefts weren’t just minor in scale; one incident at *Bath and Body Works* in December 2023 resulted in an employee being physically attacked, suffering multiple punches in the process, and around **$1,500** worth of damage to merchandise.

In another notable instance, a group of women, including Marshall, successfully stole over **$6,000** worth of products from *Sephora*, along with 64 articles of clothing from a *Victoria’s Secret Pink* store, all in a single day.

Legal Proceedings

As the thefts continued to escalate, law enforcement stepped in. Marshall was arrested in January 2024 after attempting to hide from authorities under a blanket, falsely claiming to be just 13 years old. Following her arrest, the legal process unfolded quickly, leading to her guilty plea to charges of second-degree robbery and 11 counts of stealing more than **$750**.

The Sentence

In the end, Marshall received a **seven-year** prison sentence for each count, with all sentences set to run concurrently. This verdict sends a strong message about the seriousness of her actions and the consequences that follow.

As communities grapple with the ongoing issue of retail theft, cases like Marshall’s draw attention to the need for heightened security measures and stricter legal repercussions for repeat offenders.
