Overland Park Wine Bar Wins Prestigious Star Wine List Award, Fourth Kansas Establishment to Earn International Recognition

Overland Park Wine Bar Earns Prestigious International Honor

Overland Park, Kansas – A local wine bar has received an international title previously bestowed upon only three other restaurants in Kansas. Vintage ’78 Wine Bar, nestled in the heart of Overland Park, announced just this Sunday that it had been awarded the esteemed Star Wine List Award.

A Respected Guide, A Remarkable Recognition

The Star Wine List Award is considered a guide to exceptional wine bars and restaurants worldwide. Launched in Stockholm, it bridged the gap for wine enthusiasts who, despite the abundance of restaurant guides, often found their preferences underserved. The procuration process for the list is handled by a team of wine professionals and ambassadors, ensuring the quality and credibility of the selected establishments.

“This is our third international wine list accolity in our first year,” stated Michael Scherzberg, the owner of Vintage ’78 Wine Bar. His establishment shares the honor with Pane e Vino Wine Bar & Academy in Lawrence, Wine Dive + Kitchen in Manhattan, and Wine Dive in Wichita, the only other Kansas-based restaurants to make the mark on the Star Wine List. Receiving this award merely a year into their operations, Scherzberg couldn’t contain his elation. “We are thrilled to receive this award, especially in our first year of business. This rounds out the trio of international wine list awards fine restaurants strive to receive.”

A Farm-to-Table Philosophy with a Global Wine List

Vintage ’78 prides itself on its extensive selection of wines from across the globe, as well as its focus on thoughtfully prepared dishes. The establishment provides a unique dining experience for guests, offering a broad selection of international vintages and a globally inspired menu. This combination of a farm-to-table philosophy and meticulous attention to wine selection has won the hearts of many patrons, and evident with the Star Wine List award, the recognition of the global wine community as well.

Prestigious Earlier Achievements

Prior to the recent Star Wine List Award, Vintage ’78 also garnered the Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator last summer, as well as a Three Star Award and Jury Prize from the World’s Best Wine Lists earlier this year. These recognitions serve to solidify the wine bar’s reputation as a premier dining destination both locally and internationally, showcasing its commitment to providing an exceptional wine and dine experience to its patrons.

The Overland Park community, as well as all of Kansas, can take pride in this well-deserved accomplishment. It’s a testament to the thriving food and wine scene in the state, proving that the Sunflower State can hold its own on the international stage. It seems Vintage ’78 Wine Bar is just one fine example of the kind of culinary excellence that Kansas can offer, and the world is taking note.
