Get ready, Olathe! A fresh and exciting addition is arriving in our city. An Iowa-based company, Hyper Energy Bar, is set to open its first location in the Kansas City area, right here in west Olathe at 2250 W. Dartmouth St. This energetic drive-thru will not just serve energy drinks but also coffee, capturing the hearts of caffeine lovers and energy drink enthusiasts alike!
Hyper Energy Bar prides itself on serving up “hundreds of thousands of flavor combinations” in made-to-order energy drinks. Can you imagine the possibilities? From classic favorites to adventurous blends, there’s something for everyone! Some fan favorites include Pink Power with strawberry, watermelon, and white chocolate, Violet Voltage with blue raspberry and watermelon, and the tropical delight Cosmic Lightning featuring peach, mango, and pineapple.
But wait, there’s more! Along with energy drinks, Hyper’s coffee menu is equally enticing. You can choose from options like the Caramel Crush latte, Campfire latte with marshmallow and chocolate, or even refreshing cold brew. And if you’re searching for something a little lighter, don’t worry — they offer a variety of milk alternatives and sweeteners. With over 100 syrup flavors, including around 50 sugar-free options, it’s clear that Hyper Energy Bar is all about choice and customization!
Excitingly, this is just the beginning for Hyper! CEO Chase Whalen has shared that multiple locations are in the works for the Kansas City area, including potential spots in Overland Park. “We’re definitely looking at five to six locations,” he mentioned, although he wanted to keep the details under wraps for now. He anticipates the Olathe drive-thru to open its doors in the second quarter of 2025.
Chase has deep roots in the restaurant industry, having grown up in a family that owns several restaurant concepts in the Midwest. Notably, they also operate the popular Olathe’s Burger Shed at the Embassy Suites. Along with his wife, Izabella Whalen, he opened Hyper in Des Moines back in 2021, focusing on delivering not only fantastic drinks but also exceptional customer service.
One of the unique things about Hyper is their staff, affectionately called “energistas”, who take orders face-to-face. This approach allows for a more personal connection with customers, making you feel like a valued guest rather than just another order. Izabella also brings her expertise into play, supervising the coffee side of the business, ensuring that both coffee and energy drink lovers leave satisfied.
As Hyper Energy Bar makes its entrance, it’s worth noting that Olathe isn’t the only city getting drive-thru coffee chains. Competitors like Dutch Bros, 151 Coffee, and 7 Brew Coffee are also expanding rapidly in Johnson County. Dutch Bros is in the process of adding two more locations in Overland Park, while 151 Coffee is on the brink of opening its first metro location.
So, as Olathe gears up for the new Hyper Energy Bar, it’s clear that the demand for high-quality drive-thru options is growing! Whether you’re in the mood for a refreshing energy drink to power through your day or a cozy cup of coffee, Hyper aims to deliver with a smile. Get ready, Olathe; deliciousness is just around the corner!
