Exciting New Hilton Garden Inn Approved in Riverside, Set to Open by 2026

Exciting Developments in Riverside: New Hotel on the Horizon!

Riverside is buzzing with exciting news as the plans for a brand-new hotel have just been approved! On Tuesday, the city’s Board of Aldermen greenlit an impressive five-story Hilton Garden Inn that will sit on 3.39 acres, right across from the Kansas City Current’s training complex. This hotel is set to be the first new commercial project surrounding the complex, which opened its doors just last year in June 2022.

What to Expect from the New Hilton Garden Inn

The hotel will boast 134 rooms, including nine larger extended-stay accommodations to cater to visitors who might need a bit more space. It looks like there’s something for everyone with a ground-floor bar and restaurant, a swimming pool, and just under 2,500 square feet of meeting and conference space! For those beautiful sunny days, guests can also enjoy an outdoor terrace connected to the meeting space.

This 83,744-square-foot hotel is sure to catch your eye with its customized design. The team at Palmer Square Capital Management, the owners behind this venture, have planned a design featuring black metal and wood panels that will perfectly complement the materials already found at the Current’s training facility. This attention to detail is sure to make the hotel a stunning addition to the area.

When Can We Expect It to Open?

If all goes well, the Kansas City Current team could break ground on this exciting project as early as November, with the hotel looking to open its doors by early 2026. How perfect would it be to welcome this new hospitality spot just in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup? The Riverside training complex has already been announced as a potential base camp for teams during the tournament.

Community Leads Sing the Hotel’s Praises

Mayor Kathy Rose shared her enthusiasm about the new hotel, stating, “It’s going to be a beautiful amenity down there, and it’s going to serve a lot of people that have businesses down there as well as all the activities and events that will be held at the Current facility.” Her excitement is palpable, reflecting the community’s eagerness for new developments that will benefit both residents and visitors alike.

What Else is Happening Around the Complex?

The Riverside training complex offers much more than just hotel space. It contains a 17,600-square-foot team facility equipped with a weight room, a training room, a massage room, a kitchen, and front office space. With a total of seven practice pitches—two grass and five artificial turf—the facility allows for top-notch training opportunities. And here’s the kicker: the facility uses only about 25 of the 51 acres available through the Current’s development agreement with Riverside. This leaves plenty of space for future growth!

Future plans may include the development of six additional soccer pitches (five outdoor and one indoor), a community park, and even new drive-thru or casual dining options. Sounds like Riverside is poised for a complete makeover!

A New Concert Venue on the Way?

But wait, there’s more! Riverside is also set to witness the construction of a massive $119.7 million Live Nation outdoor amphitheater, with a capacity for 15,000 seats. This exciting venue will be located just northwest of Horizons Parkway and Interstate 635, providing a perfect spot for concerts and events.

With all these exciting developments in the works, it’s safe to say that Riverside is becoming the place to be! Stay tuned for more updates as we watch these projects come to life!
