KC Wheel Partners with Non-Profit Feed Northland Kids in a Bid to Combat Child Hunger

KC Wheel collaborates with a non-profit to support Northland children

KANSAS CITY, Mo.

On a mission to eradicate child hunger in Northland communities, the KC Wheel has joined forces with the esteemed non-profit organization, Feed Northland Kids. This collaboration is a part of their commendable “One Good Turn Deserves Another” initiative.

This unique partnership aims to raise much-needed funds that will cater to children struggling with food insecurity, thus, ensuring they have access to wholesome meals.

Feed Northland Kids – Serving the Community

Feed Northland Kids was stationed at the KC Wheel, Pennway Point, between 1 to 4 p.m. on a recent Saturday. They are to return during the same hours the following Sunday. The non-profit allowed visitors to learn more about their endeavours to feed children who go hungry amid their community.

As per the organization, over 11,000 children in Northland communities are battling food insecurity and hunger. To address this alarming issue, Feed Northland Kids ensures the following vital services are provided:

  • BackSnack with Harvesters – a program that supplies high-protein, kid-friendly, shelf-stable food to children, during weekends and school breaks, via backpacks
  • In-School Food Pantries – these pantries cater to middle and high school students by providing grab-and-go foods. These meals and snacks are available to the students throughout the day, and even for after-school activities
  • Community Food Kits – this initiative delivers grocery bags with shelf-stable items and boxes of fresh produce to needy families across Northland school districts
  • Food for School Districts – multiple districts within Clay and Platte counties participate actively in efforts to curb food insecurity

Join the Cause

Those who attend the KC Wheel event are encouraged to make a minimum donation of $10. As a token of gratitude, each donor will receive a complimentary Digital Photo Package from the KC Wheel. To further highlight the urgency of ending food insecurity among children in the metro, the lights on the Wheel will glow bright blue.

Those who aren’t able to attend the event but wish to contribute towards the cause can still make donations online.

Creating Lasting Impact

Providing nutritious meals to children not only alleviates immediate hunger but also paves the way for these children to reach their full potential, promoting healthier growth and development. Partnerships like the one between the KC Wheel and Feed Northland Kids are crucial for making a significant, lasting impact on the well-being of our communities.
