Former Kansas City Man Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Production Attempt

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A former Kansas City resident who had relocated to Mexico and assumed a different identity has pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to produce child pornography.

About the Culprit

The culprit, a 24-year-old who went by the names Wyatt Christopher Maxwell and Louis Whitaker, confessed to one count of intending to create child pornography. Originally living in Kansas City, Maxwell had later migrated to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where he lived as Louis Whitaker and worked as a cabaret singer. Following his indictment, Maxwell was arrested in Mexico and has since been in federal custody.

The Investigation and Prosecution

According to court documents, the Overland Park Police Department was tipped off in February 2021 about Maxwell’s illicit activities involving a 16-year-old resident. The investigation revealed that Maxwell had been creating and disseminating child pornography through various online platforms. The minor victim also disclosed to investigators about Maxwell filming explicit videos of them both at his residence and a nearby park.

During an official interview on February 3, 2021, Maxwell admitted to uploading videos on subscription-based platforms such as OnlyFans and JustForFans. He speculated that he was making somewhere between $3,000 to $10,000 monthly through his subscribers. Investigators found extensive evidence on Maxwell’s cell phone, including 39 downloaded videos, 96 videos depicting child pornography involving the victim, and 24 images featuring the minor. Cumulatively, Maxwell made a total of over $52,000 from his subscriptions.

Impending Sentence

If the evidence holds up in court and Maxwell is convicted, federal laws mandate at least 15 years in a federal prison without the possibility of parole for such offenses. All rights reserved.
