Second Drop-Off Location Added for This Weekend’s Cleanup

Kansas City, a community devoted to cleanliness and environmental consciousness, has added a second drop-off location for this weekend’s citywide cleanup. Spearheaded by KCMO 5th District-at-Large City Councilman Darrell Curls and community volunteer John Sharp, this initiative seeks to create a hassle-free environment for residents to dispose of unwanted household items.

What Can You Bring to The Cleanup?

The duo had previously explained to the city residents the assortment of unwanted household items that can be disposed of, free of charge, at the drop-off site located at Ruskin High School.

The list of accepted items includes bulky materials such as outdated furniture and unneeded tires both with and without rims, along with conventional household waste, automotive products such as used oil, antifreeze, out of order batteries, lawn & garden products such as herbicides & pesticides, and household cleaning products.

Leaves and brush can also be dropped at the site, giving residents an easy solution to the disposal of their organic waste. The initiative also makes the responsible disposal of paints a breeze, encouraging households to rid their storage spaces of unused or expired cans.

Second Drop-Off Site at Center Academy for Success

In a bid to increase accessibility, a new drop-off location has been established at Center Academy for Success, located at 8434 Paseo. This site will be able to accept the same repertoire of unwanted items as the Ruskin drop-off site, with the exception of household hazardous waste.

Exact Dates for Your Calendar

The second spring cleanup will be open to all KCMO residents, and will run from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 29.

Note: Those looking to dispose of hazardous household waste can do so at the Ruskin High School drop-off site on Saturday, July 27, from 8 a.m. to noon.

To Wrap Up

This move by city officials and dedicated community volunteers represents a significant step in making Kansas City cleaner and demonstrating the importance of responsible waste disposal.
