For this three-month-long project, Nuro has rolled out cars to the 54 largest metro areas across the country, collecting data and refining their behavior prediction algorithms.

While Nuro is still getting their feet wet in Kansas City, they do have autonomous delivery vehicles that are currently operational in Texas and California. In places like Houston and the tech hotspots of Palo Alto and Mountain View, these vehicles are already commuting without a human at the wheel! However, for now, outside of those states, safety drivers must be present just in case the car needs help.

A city official mentioned that Kansas City isn’t currently involved in the Nuro project. They’re doing their homework on the technology but haven’t established an official position regarding self-driving vehicles just yet.
