Traffic Woes Surrounding Kansas City Area

Ah, Kansas City! It’s a vibrant place full of life, but today it seems that the roads are not showing the city in its best light. A series of traffic incidents, especially involving broken down vehicles and accidents, has created a challenging driving experience for commuters and travelers alike. So buckle up as we dig into what’s happening on the roads!

Broken Down Vehicles Causing Serious Delays

First on our list, we have several broken down vehicles causing significant slowdowns. For instance, if you’re traveling northbound on I-29/I-35, be cautious as there’s a broken down vehicle between MO-210/Armour Road/Exit 6 and Parvin Road/Exit 8. This spot is causing disruptions over a stretch of about 630 feet. The issue was reported at 1:56 a.m. on Monday, with an update coming in late Tuesday at 12:40 a.m.

A Crash on I-35

Meanwhile, happening on northbound I-35 between Southwest Boulevard/Pennway Street/Exit 1C (NB) and 20th Street/Exit 1D (SB), there was a crash reported on Monday at 5:55 p.m. Although it covered a somewhat small section of 160 feet, it had traffic crawling in the area. Thankfully, updates continued to roll in, with the latest appearing at 6:05 p.m.

More Broken Down Vehicles in Lenexa

In Lenexa, things aren’t looking much better. Another broken down vehicle has made the journey on westbound I-35 sluggish, specifically between 67th Street/Exit 228 and 75th Street/Exit 227. This incident was reported at 5:25 p.m. and creates a bottleneck over 150 feet. An update soon followed at 5:59 p.m.

A Few More Glitches on the Roads

And it doesn’t stop there! Another broken down vehicle on eastbound I-35 between 119th Street/Exit 220 and I-435/Exit 222 has been affecting traffic, impacting an impressive 530 feet with reports swirling in starting at 4:50 p.m. There’s also a pesky delay on South 24th Street from Lamar Avenue exit 232A to I-35 South, which is stretching a significant 940 feet. The alert for that was issued at 3:35 p.m. with updates rolling in until 4:11 p.m.

More Trouble on I-70 and I-435

And if you think we’re done, hold onto your hats! A broken down vehicle was reported on eastbound I-70 between U P RR Service Road/Exit 421 and I-670/I-70, causing issues over 600 feet. The alert went out at 6:49 p.m. with a quick update following at 7:02 p.m.

The situation continues to be a hassle on southbound I-435 between I-70/Exit 63 and Stadium Drive, where a breakdown has clogged up traffic over 640 feet too. Reported at 4:48 p.m., the last update was just shortly thereafter at 5:01 p.m.

Van Brunt Boulevard and Lane Closures

A crash on Van Brunt Boulevard is also a cause for concern, impacting a stretch from exit 6 to I-70 East. This incident stretched for 780 feet with warnings and updates flowing out between 4:23 p.m. to 4:33 p.m.

And don’t forget about the lane closures on US-69 in Overland Park, where one lane is closed between 135th Street and Blue Valley Parkway affecting 0.58 miles, and another closure spanning 1.92 miles between Blue Valley Parkway and College Boulevard.

Overall Traffic Outlook

So, dear commuters, while it’s clear that broken-down vehicles are doing a number on our roads, we also didn’t see any *major* incidents during the latest update. Just a friendly reminder to keep those cars in tip-top shape on your travels!

Drive safely, Kansas City, and be patient as you navigate the busy roads impacted by these snags in our daily journey!
