Kansas City’s streets have faced traffic disruptions recently, particularly due to broken down vehicles and crashes on major highways. Notable incidents include backups on eastbound I-35 and eastbound I-70, with several minor road closures adding to the congestion. While there are no current incidents reported, travelers are urged to stay informed and remain cautious on the roads.
The bustling streets of Kansas City have seen their fair share of traffic disruptions recently. If you’re planning to hit the road, it’s essential to be informed about what’s happening out there. Fortunately, as of now, there are no current traffic incidents reported in the area, which is a relief for commuters!
However, let’s take a look at some of the recent incidents that have been causing delays and disruptions.
One of the notable incidents involved a broken down vehicle on the eastbound I-35 in Olathe. This situation was first reported at 3:55 p.m., and the vehicle was causing a backup impacting approximately 610 feet between East Santa Fe Street and 119th Street. Thankfully, the latest update at 4:28 p.m. seems to indicate that it was being cleared up.
Just down the road in Lenexa, another broken-down vehicle popped up on eastbound I-35 from 119th Street to I-435. This issue was reported around 3:17 p.m. and was noted to affect an area of 500 feet. An update at 4:23 p.m. shows that this incident was also getting resolved. It seems like broken down vehicles were a recurring theme, with another vehicle reported on the same stretch of road just minutes earlier, impacting 570 feet for a quick moment!
Adding to the mix, a crash was reported on the northbound I-35 route from Antioch Road to I-635 around 2:47 p.m. This incident had its impacts spanning approximately 480 feet, and the latest update at 3:11 p.m. was likely welcomed by drivers in that area.
Meanwhile, if you were traveling on eastbound I-70 in Kansas City, you might’ve run into a broken down vehicle between US-40 and Manchester Trafficway. Reported at 9:58 p.m., it was causing around 300 feet of slowdown, with updates extending until 10:39 p.m.
And let’s not forget about the southbound lane! There have been multiple reports of broken down vehicles affecting various sections of I-435 in Kansas City, with impacts ranging from 130 feet to as much as 640 feet.
Adding a twist to our travel tales, there was also a brief road closure reported on East 15th Terrace between I-70 East and East 16th Street. This notice came in just after 3:39 p.m. but was thankfully updated a mere four minutes later.
As you navigate through the thriving streets of Kansas City, it pays to stay updated. With several broken down vehicles and a couple of crashes causing minor traffic jams, remember to keep your eyes and ears open. Whether it’s checking for updates or just being proactive on the road, being aware can make a world of difference.
Be sure to keep the brakes ready and the tunes going, and remember, there’s always another road to take when you hit these unexpected bumps! Happy driving, Kansas City!
