Traffic Update for Kansas City: Rain, Crashes, and Broken Down Vehicles

Hello, Kansas City! If you’re planning on heading out today, you might want to buckle up and stay informed about the traffic situation. It looks like it’s been a bit hectic on the roads lately with some rain and a couple of incidents that could affect your travel plans. Let’s dive into the latest updates so you can stay safe and navigate effectively!

Crashes and Their Impact

First up, there’s been a notable traffic warning concerning a crash on the Monarch Highway. This incident occurred near exit 2T affecting the stretch leading to I-35 South. Reports came in late last night and it’s impacting around 430 feet, which could cause some slowdowns in that area. If you’re in the vicinity, keep your eyes peeled for emergency responders.

Another notable incident was reported on Wyandotte Street also between exit 2T and I-35 South. Updates indicate it was a quick situation, with the last notice coming in just a little after it happened. So, if you were planning on taking that route, you may want to consider an alternative.

Vehicle Breakdowns on the Highways

Besides crashes, it seems like quite a few vehicles decided to take a break on the highways. For instance, there’s a broken-down vehicle on northbound I-29/I-35 from East Front Street to Levee Road, occupying an area of 560 feet. This was reported around 7:27 p.m. last night, so if you see that stretch, be cautious.

On the eastbound side, there’s also a broken-down vehicle between 119th Street and I-435 that’s causing a blockage impacting 410 feet. This was first noted around 2:40 p.m. Saturday. Driving safely past these situations is essential for both you and the personnel working to clear them. We’re all in this together!

Rainy Weather Woes

Let’s talk about the weather! Rain has been quite heavy across the region, which has led to some additional traffic warnings. There’s a traffic advisory for hazardous conditions on northbound I-635 from Metropolitan Avenue to I-70. This stretch sees an impact of 1.72 miles and it was reported late last night. Remember to drive cautiously and allow extra time for your trips.

Additionally, authorities have placed warnings regarding driving conditions on southbound I-40/US-71 due to heavy rain impacting sections from Main Street to 155th Street. Stretching approximately 2.06 miles, it’s wise to stay alert if you need to head that way.

Lane Closures and Other Advisories

In terms of lane closures, you should know that there’s currently one lane closed on I-635 between Swartz Road and I-70. If you navigate through this area, you’ll want to keep that in mind. Likewise, on southbound I-435 there’s a lane closure that impacts around 0.66 miles. These lane closures can contribute to slower traffic, so patience is key!

What You Can Do

Whether it’s due to bad weather or unfortunate incidents on the road, staying informed can help tremendously. Always check for traffic updates before you head out and consider leaving a little earlier than usual to account for any unforeseen delays. If you encounter any issues, don’t hesitate to report them to the appropriate traffic authorities. Your local road communities appreciate your vigilance!

Stay safe out there, Kansas City! We’ll be updating you with the latest traffic news as it comes in, so keep your eye on the road and drive defensively!
