Hey there, Kansas City! We know how much you love being in the know when it comes to traffic. So, buckle up, because we’re here to give you the latest updates to help you navigate the roads safely and smoothly.
It seems like Sunday was a bit tough for some vehicles around here. We kicked off the trouble with a broken down vehicle on eastbound I-35 in Lenexa, specifically affecting the stretch between 95th Street and West 87th Street. The issue first popped up at 11:20 p.m. Sunday night, and the last word on it came in at 12:28 a.m. on Monday. Travelers, make sure to watch for it!
In another part of town, a crash was reported on Jefferson Street affecting traffic from exit 2T to I-35 South. This incident created a bit of a bottleneck for 740 feet and was first noticed at around 10:22 p.m. Luckily, there was an update just 13 minutes later at 10:35 p.m., indicating the situation was monitored closely.
But that’s not all! We also had a crash on northbound I-35 between 20th Street and I-670/Broadway Boulevard. A 440-foot stretch was impacted here, with the report coming out at 3:49 p.m. and the latest news being shared by 4:05 p.m. Fortunately, crews are quick to respond!
Heading over to eastbound I-70, there was another crash between Turner Diagonal and 57th Street. Spanning 330 feet, the alert went out at 4:20 p.m., and thankfully, the response was efficient enough to have the situation updated shortly after at 4:29 p.m.
And yes, it seems I-435 was not spared from trouble either! Just after 1:40 p.m., a broken down vehicle appeared from Gregory Boulevard to 87th Street, impacting 350 feet. Updates continued throughout the day, with the latest coming in after 5 p.m. Safety is always a priority!
For those of you in the northern area, here’s a heads-up: US-169 North is temporarily closed between several major intersections. The alert was issued early Monday morning, but don’t worry; things were also being monitored Sunday as the last update came in late in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, back in Overland Park, there are a few lanes closed on US-69 from 95th Street to Blue Valley Parkway. This is an extended situation that started on Friday morning, with the last update settling in for its performance on Sunday evening. The messy lane closures stretch over 3 miles, so if you’re headed that way, you might want to plan an alternative route!
If you’re out and about in Kansas City, keep an eye out for multiple vehicles having trouble. There were reports of broken down vehicles sprinkled across various locations, including on the Bruce R Watkins Expressway, which certainly kept local traffic interesting! There were even a couple more breakdown situations on I-435 and some smaller streets throughout the city during the day.
As of now, no major traffic incidents are reported in multiple areas, which should make your commuting a bit smoother. However, stay tuned for updates, as things can change quickly on the roads. If you’re ever in the thick of it and can send us updates or share your experience, there’s a handy feedback form available.
Stay safe out there, Kansas City, and remember—don’t let the traffic get you down. Until next time, keep your seatbelt fastened and your eyes on the road!
