Traffic Woes in Kansas City: A Report on Recent Incidents and Delays

Hey there, Kansas City! If you’ve hit the highways recently, you might have encountered some pesky traffic incidents. Whether it’s a fender bender or a car that just decided to take a break, our roads have seen more than a fair share of challenges this past week. So, if you’re planning to hit the road soon, it’s good to be informed!

What’s Happening on the Roads

First up, let’s talk about the major incidents that might affect your daily commute. A crash has been reported on southbound I-435 between MO-12/Truman Road and I-70. This happened at around 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, and as of the latest report at 7:04 p.m., the impact area stretches for about 0.74 miles. So, if you were out driving around that time, you likely noticed some slowdown in the area.

But that’s not all, folks! There’s also a broken-down vehicle on the George Brett Super Highway from I-70 exit 63 to Stadium Drive. This situation was reported around 2:05 p.m. on Sunday and impacted about 700 feet of roadway. It’s always a heart-sinking moment when your car just doesn’t want to cooperate, and we hope those affected found a quick resolution.

A Few More Snags

Heading into Monday, the troubles continued with another broken vehicle reported on northbound I-29 from Cookingham Drive to I-435. This one was flagged at around 12:59 a.m., and it created a bit of a bottleneck stretching 570 feet before it was cleared. That’s not the kind of surprise commuters enjoy waking up to!

Drivers on southbound I-435 faced their own setback with another breakdown between 12th Street and MO-12/Truman Road, reported just after 7:55 p.m. on Sunday. With just 60 feet of impact, it was a short stretch, but still enough to cause some frustration.

Crashes and Their Impact

Let’s take a quick glance at some of the other crashes and breakdowns that got officials buzzing over the weekend:

  • A crash on Woodend Road around 1:13 p.m. led to a warning by 2:06 p.m.
  • Incidents on eastbound I-470 and northbound I-40 also made headlines, with the latter being reported around 7:24 p.m. on Sunday affecting 150 feet of traffic.
  • There was even a broken vehicle reported on K-5 stretching for about 930 feet at around 7:33 p.m. on Sunday.

Lane Closures and Other Alerts

And if that wasn’t enough, one lane is closed on southbound US-69 from 151st Street to 179th Street. This closure has been causing some headaches since Friday morning. So, if you’re driving in that area, keep your eyes peeled for road signs!

Let’s Stay Safe Out There

As traffic updates continue to roll in, it’s always best to stay informed and drive safely. Keep an eye on your surroundings and give yourself extra time to reach your destination if you know the roads might be a little rough. We hope these little tidbits help prepare you for your travels around Kansas City – stay alert, and may your journeys be smooth!

On a bright note, thanks to the improved traffic reporting, we hope you can dodge some of those snarled traffic moments. Safe travels, Kansas City!
