KANSAS CITY, Mo. – As Spring 2024 is finally in bloom, Kansas City’s Power & Light District is putting the final preparations in place to host an array of events including brunches, concerts, and other fun-filled celebrations. As part of the new season’s grand unveiling, the district is also set to introduce new art installations, including a vibrant mural at the Fresh Karma entrance, curated by a local design studio.
Commenting on the upcoming roster of events, John Moncke, the president of the Kansas City Power & Light District, said, “The District team works tirelessly throughout the year to curate an exceptional series of events for the community, residents, and visitors to participate in, and this spring will be more exciting than ever. Our diverse lineup promises memorable experiences everyone can enjoy in the heart of downtown at the Power & Light District.”
Marked by variety, the spring 2024 lineup is set to kick off with a social gathering filled with music, special guests, and the chance to win concert tickets. As the season progresses, there will be more music, numerous watch parties, a Taylor Swift-themed bash, Kansas City Breakaway Takeover at Shark Bar, the unveiling of a new mural, a Downtown Brunch Walk, and several other interesting and varied events.
Joining the city’s art landscape, the Fresh Karma mural, designed by the Kansas City-based design and branding studio, Carpenter Collective, is set to make its debut on Saturday, April 20 at 8 a.m. Aimed at celebrating diversity and promoting representation, the mural will be the centerpiece for many selfies and group photos.
On Friday, April 19 at 8 p.m., the Kansas City Breakaway Festival will make a splashy entrance at Shark Bar, bringing with it special DJ performances, drink specials, and the shot to win 2-day GA tickets to the KC Breakaway Festival.
A thing to look forward to is the Downtown Brunch Walk scheduled for Saturday, April 27. Starting from 11 a.m., the event will offer attendees an opportunity to sip and tuck into delicious meals while exploring various venues with live music playing on 14th street.
Timed to coincide with the Kentucky Derby, this event set for Saturday, May 4, invites attendees to dress their best and enjoy an afternoon of horse racing, fashion, and lively entertainment, all topped off with Derby-themed cocktails.
Designed to bring together dogs and their owners, this event on Tuesday, May 7, offers a fun-filled dog social filled with doggie pools, a dog treat bar, and plenty of dog toys, ensuring the four-legged attendees have a blast.
