In a challenging weekend for the Kansas City Softball team, the Roos faced off against the Drake Bulldogs and unfortunately came away with two losses, bringing their season record to 2-15. The action unfolded at the Urban Youth Academy, which saw enthusiastic fans braving the weather to cheer on their home team.
The first game of the weekend took place on Friday, March 7, 2025. The Kansas City squad started the contest with high hopes but struggled against the Bulldogs. Despite showing some flashes of talent, the Roos fell short, losing by a significant margin of 11-3. The team looked to shake off this defeat as they geared up for their second chance on Sunday.
The second game was held on Sunday, March 9, 2025, and it turned out to be a nail-biter! The Roos actually took an early lead, going ahead 1-0 thanks to their solid efforts in the first few innings. However, as the game progressed, the Bulldogs were not ready to go down without a fight. In a dramatic shift, Drake managed to grab a one-run lead in the top of the sixth inning, thanks to two solo home runs that turned the tide in their favor. The final score ended up being 2-1, leaving the Roos with a bittersweet feeling as they put up a good fight but narrowly missed the win.
Despite the weekend’s setbacks, there’s still plenty of action ahead! The Kansas City Softball team is set to host a doubleheader against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) next Thursday. This is an excellent opportunity for the Roos to bounce back and show their fans that they have what it takes to come out on top.
Game one is scheduled to start at noon, with game two kicking off at 2:00 p.m. Get ready to cheer them on as they aim to turn their season around! Fans are encouraged to come out to the Urban Youth Academy to support the team and create an exciting atmosphere. Every cheer, every clapping hand, and every shout can make a huge difference for these young athletes as they fight for victory on their home turf.
While the scoreboard may not reflect it just yet, it’s important to remember that every game is a learning experience. The players are working hard to build their skills and understanding of the game. With each game, they are not just competing against other teams but also battling to improve their game and bond with their teammates. Progress may be slow, but the Roos are dedicated to their journey and have the heart to keep pushing forward.
As they look forward to the games against SIUE, the team will undoubtedly be reflecting on the weekend’s challenges, ready to apply those lessons and come out stronger. The atmosphere is set to be electric as the community rallies behind their local team!
