This afternoon in Kansas City, a tragic shooting occurred that resulted in one person’s death and another individual sustaining injuries. The Kansas City Police Department responded to reports of shots fired just after 4:15 PM, near the intersection of Smart Avenue and Bales Avenue.
According to the police, officers were initially alerted to gunfire in the 300 block of Maple. As they made their way to the scene, they received additional information indicating shots were directed at a car, which then sped away. When officers arrived at the designated location, they found one victim unresponsive inside the vehicle, while another victim was located outside the car.
Emergency services were called promptly. Tragically, the victim found inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was taken to a hospital and is currently reported to be in stable condition.
