Kansas City Woman Accused of Stealing Thousands in Merchandise

Kansas City, Mo. — A local woman is facing serious criminal charges after being linked to a series of alleged retail thefts that have added up to thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise. Asia Marshall, the accused, has had multiple counts filed against her by the Jackson County prosecutor’s office.

Details of the Allegations

Marshall has been charged with several counts of “stealing, $750 or more” in connection with incidents that occurred throughout 2023. The court has placed strict bond conditions on her, ordering her to “not enter or have contact” with specific stores, including Nike, Bath and Body Works, and Sephora. She is also prohibited from coming within 500 feet of the Country Club Plaza.

According to court documents, Marshall was implicated in several thefts:

  • May 24, 2023: Three women, including Marshall, were reported to have stolen apparel worth $1,400 from a Kansas City store.
  • May 27, 2023: Another incident in Overland Park involved Marshall and three other women allegedly stealing 25 items valued at $1,407.
  • September 20, 2023: Marshall reportedly took 248 items worth $5,314.60 without paying.
  • October 14, 2023: In another theft, she allegedly stole 212 items summing up to $5,386.40.
  • November 18, 2023: Marshall, part of a group of four women, stole 85 items valued at $2,290.75.

Evidence and Confession

Investigators used video surveillance footage to identify Marshall as one of the suspects in these thefts. During interviews, she allegedly confessed to being involved in all four theft incidents, including previous thefts in Overland Park that added to a total of $2,807 in stolen goods.
