“The _overwhelming majority_ of these recruits want to help people. That’s the line,” Pinkerton explained, highlighting the dedicated spirit of each candidate stepping forward to serve the Kansas City community.

Competitive Salaries and Crowds of Applicants

With the beginning salary for a KCPD officer now sitting at an attractive \textbf{\$65,000}, it’s no wonder that interest is picking up! The max salary an officer can achieve is \textbf{\$104,676}. Officer Terrence Brown, who plays an integral role in recruitment efforts, mentioned the various places they visit to scout new talent. “We go out to different recruitment events in the community. We also visit colleges and universities, as well as military recruiting bases,” Officer Brown explained. In Training: Future Officers of Kansas City

Currently, there are two significant recruit classes in progress. The \textbf{182nd Entrant Officer Class} has 17 recruits exclusively from KCPD and 31 recruits in total. Meanwhile, the \textbf{183rd Entrant Officer Class} will feature 14 KCPD recruits alongside 36 recruits overall. With such a solid pool of candidates entering the pipeline, the future looks bright for Kansas City’s policing needs.
