Fani Willis, the Fulton County District Attorney, is battling for her professional standing as well as her most high-profile case yet, one involving former President Donald Trump. Willis is countering attempts from one of Trump’s codefendants to have her, her apparent romantic partner and fellow prosecutor, and the entire District Attorney’s office dismissed from Trump’s Georgia election racketeering case. Tensions ran high as Willis presented her case, alleging that some testimonies were fabricated and discussing trips made to a rental cabin, Aruba, and a Norwegian cruise.
Simultaneously, Trump was seen rallying in another state, decrying the proceedings as an orchestration, even as plans for a separate New York-based trial next month came to light.
A dispute between several individuals at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory celebration led to a shooting incident, with devastating consequences. Over 20 people were injured, and one mother of two tragically lost her life. The crime scene, near Union Station, saw around a million Chiefs fans gather in jubilation, only to witness their joy turn into terror. The number of injured suspects, 22, was a mix of both adults and children, with nearly half of the victims being aged under 16.
Three suspects, two of them juveniles, are currently in police custody, with several firearms also being recovered. Charges in connection with the shooting, however, have yet to be filed.
The possibility of Russia working on a space-based nuclear weapon might sound like a plot plucked straight out of a dystopian thriller, but new U.S. intelligence paints a more concrete picture. Vice President Joe Biden’s top national security adviser plans to discuss the matter with congressional leaders on Thursday. Such an undertaking, officials fear, may pose a significant danger to international security.
Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, has issued a call for the Biden administration to declassify all details concerning this potential national security threat.
A grand Southern California mansion perched on the very brink of a cliff presents a nerve-wracking spectacle. But according to officials, the property remains safe even after a landslide brought the land in front of the home crashing down to the beach below. These cliff-top houses in Dana Point, California, have suffered the effects of the recent atmospheric river, or “Pineapple Express”, which ushered in heavy rain, flooding and, as a result, more damage.
Officials however reassure that the dwelling in question is safely built on caissons anchored to bedrock, thus declaring the mansion safe to occupy despite the daunting view.
