Exciting news is on the horizon for residents of Kansas City’s Northland! A brand-new outdoor concert venue is set to make waves along the Missouri River within the next two years. Earlier this week, the Riverside Board of Aldermen gave the green light on a hefty $120 million bond to get this ambitious project rolling. This means live music lovers in the area can look forward to enjoying their favorite artists in a stunning outdoor setting.
The driving force behind this project is the global entertainment company LiveNation, which plans to lease the new amphitheater. They are investing a substantial $95 million into this venture. Plus, thanks to some negotiated tax incentives, they’re expected to save around $15 million on construction materials, with benefits such as sales and use tax exemptions and a 10-year property tax abatement. Since the site is currently owned by the city, it doesn’t generate any tax revenue, paving the way for this exciting new development.
Besides LiveNation’s investment, the state of Missouri is chipping in $20 million for the project, while the city of Riverside is adding $5 million. It’s a true collaborative effort that highlights the commitment to enhancing the community and its entertainment offerings.
The amphitheater is planned to be situated just northwest of Horizons Parkway and Interstate 635, conveniently located near the KC Current training facility in Riverside. It’s a perfect spot—easily accessible for the many music fans living in and around the area. With Parkville and Kansas City, Kansas, just a stone’s throw away, this venue is going to be a hit!
So, what can you expect from this new amphitheater? According to a spokesperson from LiveNation, it will have the capacity to seat 15,000 patrons! That’s a sizable crowd for any concert. The seating will be quite diverse, featuring 1,666 pit seats, 6,076 general seats, 4,135 lawn seats, 1,502 premium seats, 432 premium boxes, 410 premium group sales, and 786 premium lawn seats. It seems they’ve planned it all out to cater to various preferences and price ranges.
And if you’re worried about parking, the new venue will include approximately 5,200 parking stalls as well as 200 ride-share stalls. This is definitely a much-needed addition for concert-goers who love the freedom of attending events without the hassle of finding a parking space.
While the opening date of the amphitheater is yet to be announced, residents can expect the groundbreaking to happen very soon in Riverside. It’s time to get ready for a vibrant music scene right in their backyard!
This new venue will join LiveNation’s impressive lineup of over 150 venues spread across the country, which includes the popular Hollywood Casino Amphitheater near St. Louis. As they say, where there’s music, there’s magic, and this new amphitheater is all set to sprinkle Kansas City’s Northland with a little extra charm.
In conclusion, the Northland community is poised for an exciting new chapter in entertainment as the plans for this outdoor concert venue take shape. With so much to look forward to, local residents will soon have a fantastic spot to enjoy live music and make unforgettable memories!
