Kansas City Welcomes Back Navy Week with Open Arms!

After a hiatus since 2021, this year’s event is bigger and better, with dozens of sailors ready to engage with locals and showcase the vital role the Navy plays in our community and beyond.

Navy Week is all about community outreach and education. It’s a golden opportunity for you to learn about the Navy, meet the incredible men and women who serve, and understand why the Navy is essential not just to Kansas City, but to the entire nation. Each year since 2005, this bustling program has reached over 150 million people across more than 95 U.S. cities through a series of engaging events. So, whether you’re a Navy enthusiast or just mildly curious, there’s something for everyone!

In-Person Events You Can’t Miss!

From now until Sunday, November 17, Kansas City will be buzzing with events that highlight everything wonderful about the Navy. Want to know what’s going on? Here’s the scoop!

The week kicked off on a high note with Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas delivering a heartfelt proclamation in honor of Navy Week. This special moment took place during the annual Veterans Day ceremony at the National World War I Museum and Memorial. Keynote speaker, Rear Admiral Larry Watkins, also took to the stage to share his insights and experiences with attendees, further underscoring the importance of our hallowed servicemen and women.

If you’re looking for family-friendly fun, stop by the museum! They’re hosting a “Make Your Own Poppy Pin” workshop today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Perfect for a creative outlet while honoring our veterans, right? Plus, music lovers can enjoy the “Sunset Salute: Veterans Day Concert” happening later in the day from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Memorial Courtyard.
