Kansas City, Mo. – A Kansas City man is facing serious charges after being accused of raping the 6-year-old daughter of a family friend. The incident reportedly took place on August 12, and the accused has been identified as Imani Gakuru, 29.
According to court documents from the Jackson County Circuit Court, Gakuru was staying at the home of the girl’s father when the alleged assault occurred. The father had stepped out to grab something from the store, leaving Gakuru in charge of the children, along with the girl’s 2-year-old sibling. The child’s mother and grandmother were asleep in separate rooms at the time.
Upon returning home, the father heard music coming from Gakuru’s bedroom and went to investigate. He found his daughter attempting to dress herself, and when he asked her what happened, she disclosed that Gakuru had told her to remove her clothes and that they had engaged in sexual activity. The little girl described the act as painful and also recounted that Gakuru had expressed a preference for sexual relations with children.
Gakuru has denied the allegations, claiming that the victim’s father is simply trying to have him removed from their home. Despite his denial, he was arrested and is currently being held on a bond of $1 million. He faces charges of rape of a child and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on September 11 at 9:30 a.m.
This incident has sparked concern within the Kansas City community, highlighting ongoing issues regarding child safety and the need for vigilance in protecting vulnerable individuals. The legal process continues as authorities investigate the matter further.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of reliable reporting and community awareness when it comes to protecting our children from harm. As the judicial process unfolds, many will be watching closely to see how the situation develops.
