Kansas City Health Start-Up ‘Food Fit’ Attains Endeavor Heartland Greenlight at Inaugural KC Selection Panel

In a groundbreaking development, Attane Health, the Kansas City-based nutrition and health startup, has advanced in the selection process to be recognized as an Endeavor Entrepreneur. This came to reality at the inaugural regional selection panel of Endeavor Heartland, held in Kansas City, where Attane Health was a finalist.

Endeavor is a renowned organization known for identifying high-impact entrepreneurs and providing them with resources to scale their businesses. The organization’s entry into the region marks an important milestone for Kansas City’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Innovative Health Solutions Brought to the Forefront

Emily Brown, the driving force behind Attane Health, previously known as Free From Market, stated that her startup’s progression towards the Endeavor designation would increase its visibility and influence on a global scale.

In the past month, Attane Health has procured two key Medicaid contracts with Young & Healthy and Elevance Health. By providing comprehensive access to personalized, healthy groceries and educational resources, the platform offers targeted nutritional support for those living with chronic health conditions.

Brown stated, “We believe Medicaid is ideally suited for interventions related to food and nutrition care. Access to nutritious food is crucial to good health, and it’s an aspect that isn’t evenly distributed across individuals who face food insecurity.

A Game-Changer for Chronic Condition Management

One in three Americans lives with a chronic health condition, and diet is a crucial part of their treatment protocol. Attane Health aims to bridge this gap by delivering nutrient-dense food directly to customers’ doorsteps, bypassing issues such as transport barriers.

Entrepreneurial aspirants can further their cause to become recognized Endeavor Entrepreneurs by impressing the selection panel comprising members of the Endeavor network. Such candidates must prove their growth potential to the discerning panel, hence indicating Attane Health’s significant potential by securing the green light.

Striving to improve visibility for women and minority-led startups in the venture campaign, where funding is disproportionately low, Emily Brown mentioned, “I realize that only 2% of venture capital funding goes to women, and far less than 1% to Black women. I am aware that, in many ways, I represent an exception. Therefore, I strive to remain visible and also give back so that others see that this is a path they can also tread on.”

An Entrepreneurial Journey Driven by Personal Experiences and Impact

Brown’s entrepreneurial spark was ignited by the need to ensure access to specialized dietary food. Having dealt with the healthcare system personally due to her daughters’ chronic conditions, she felt the need to create technology solutions designed by those who truly understand the problem.

But Attane Health isn’t just about providing access to healthy food, states Brown. The platform also offers personalized lifestyle coaching programs, a curated marketplace boasting over 900 healthy products, and support from certified health coaches.

As Attane Health continues to develop and expand their program, Emily Brown remains committed to leveraging entrepreneurship to drive positive changes in people’s lifestyles. She emphatically stated, “Attane Health is not just about delivering food; it’s about driving meaningful health outcomes and empowering individuals to lead healthier lives.

What’s next for Attane Health?

As a minority-led, woman-led startup, Attane Health is breaking barriers in the health and nutrition space and setting a precedent for other aspiring entrepreneurs. By achieving the Endeavor Heartland greenlight, Attane Health is one step closer to its goal of transforming health through nutrition, strengthening its mission to improve health outcomes for individuals dealing with chronic health conditions.
