Several Grocery Stores in Kansas City Metro Area to Shut Early

Kansas City, Mo. – Several grocery outlets throughout the Kansas City metro area will be closing ahead of schedule on Tuesday as part of a special occasion. All 25 area grocery stores owned by Balls Food Stores will be closing their doors early to honour and celebrate the company’s 100th year of business.

Early Closing for Centennial Celebration

Catering to thousands of daily shoppers, the stores to be affected by this early closure will include the renowned Hen House Markets, SunFresh, Payless, and 13 of the area’s Price Chopper stores. All stores are scheduled to close their operations at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Normal business hours will be resumed the following day, on Wednesday.

“There’s no better way to celebrate 100 years of being in business than to bring together all 2,600 teammates for a party,” said David Ball, the president of BFS and grandson of the company’s founders, Sydney and Mollie Ball. For him, the celebration is a way to appreciate the staff’s passionate commitment to delivering customer-centric service against all odds.
