Kansas City Man Charged with Felony After Supplying Drugs That Led to Woman’s Death
Kansas City, Missouri – A man from Kansas City is currently facing felony charges in association with the May 3 death of a woman, to whom he allegedly sold and delivered drugs. The substances in question contained Fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid known for its deadly consequences when abused. The man, identified as Vincent Scarcello, is being held responsible for the woman’s death and has been charged accordingly.
The Discovery and Initial Investigations
On May 3, first responders were dispatched to a residence in the vicinity of 53rd and Park Ave. in Kansas City following a distress call. Upon their arrival, they discovered a deceased woman inside the house. A witness who arrived home later in the evening had made the grim discovery.
An autopsy was subsequently performed, the results of which indicated the presence and cause of death to be the result of Fentanyl, Fluorofentanyl, and ethanol intoxication. Notably, a half-opened box of Narcan – a drug designed to quickly counteract opioid overdoses – was found next to the deceased individual. Police also found pills at the scene that tested positive for fentanyl, further substantiating the cause of death.
Linking Vincent Scarcello to the Case
Advanced investigations revealed communications between the deceased and a contact known as “Vince Scarcello” dated the day of her death. The two had made arrangements for Scarcello to deliver “blues” – slang for the blue M-30 pills containing Fentanyl – to the woman’s residence on that day.
Video footage obtained from the scene shows the deceased individual approaching a black sedan, which matches the description provided for Scarcello’s vehicle. According to prosecutors, further surveillance activities conducted on Scarcello allegedly indicated a series of hand-to-hand drug transactions near his residence in Raytown involving multiple other vehicles.
Arrest and Further Prosecution
Vincent Scarcello was taken into custody by law enforcement agencies on Tuesday morning. Prosecutors have requested his bail be set at $150,000. In addition to the charges for the delivery of a controlled substance, Scarcello is also facing second-degree murder charges in connection to the woman’s death due to fentanyl use.
The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of illicit substances, particularly those as deadly as fentanyl. Communities and law enforcement agencies continue to grapple with the growing opioid crisis, trying diligently to stem the tide.
