Three Arrested After Explosives Found in Kansas City Home

In a significant law enforcement operation on Friday morning, authorities in Kansas City, Missouri apprehended three individuals after uncovering large quantities of illegal explosives and drugs in a Northland residence. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that the Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a home located near North Hickory Street and NW 64th Terrace shortly after 7 a.m.

Discoveries Made

Upon searching the property, deputies discovered:

  • 107 pounds of explosive powder
  • Two pipe bombs
  • 15 grenades
  • 20 grams of fentanyl paste
  • 15 grams of meth
  • Psychedelic mushrooms
  • Seven firearms, including an Uzi
  • A significant amount of ammunition

It was confirmed that a child of elementary school age was in the home at the time of the search, but officials ensured that the child is now safe with relatives.

The Arrested Individuals

The individuals taken into custody are:

  • Cory D. Young, 46 years old
  • Erika Lahr, 32 years old
  • Tammie L. Bindel Cole, 52 years old

Young and Lahr face serious charges, including delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, and child endangerment. Currently, Young’s bond is set at $350,000, while Lahr’s bond is $250,000. Cole has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm, with her bond set at $150,000.

Possible Further Charges

Authorities have indicated that Young, Lahr, and Cole may face additional federal charges as the investigation into the explosives and firearms continues.
