The Kansas City area is bustling with a variety of events this weekend, from a smash-hit ABBA musical to a pop culture convention. Here’s what to look forward to:
ABBA Musical – Mamma Mia!
The highly popular musical based on the music of ABBA, Mamma Mia!, is back in the Kansas City Music Hall. With only five performances remaining, the supporters are encouraged to secure their tickets soon. The musical promises to keep audiences tapping their feet with numbers like ‘Dancing Queen’.
Planet Comicon Kansas City (PCKC)
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Planet Comicon Kansas City (PCKC) will be held at the Kansas City Convention Center. The three-day convention will feature appearances by noted personalities such as Corbin Bleu and Henry Winkler. Tickets can be purchased both online and at the convention center’s box office.
West Bottoms Beer Fest
The annual West Bottoms Beer Fest will take place at the Hy-Vee Arena this weekend. The festival features an assortment of 100+ craft beers and ciders from local and national breweries, delightful food from top local vendors, and live music. The proceeds from the beer fest will go to the KC Urban Academy.
Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship
The Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship continues through the weekend at the T-Mobile Center. The fixture list includes exciting matchups like No. 7 Kansas vs. No. 10 BYU and No. 6 West Virginia vs. No. 11 Cincinnati.
Annual Martin City St. Patrick’s Parade
The theme for this year’s annual Martin City St. Patrick’s Parade is #shamrocksandsmiles. The procession, featuring diverse family-friendly organizations, will begin at the corner of Washington Street and 135th Street, moving eastbound until Holmes Road. Following the parade, attendees can look forward to games, food, and drinks at the Martin City Event Space, where the festivities will continue.
Westport’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Run
Westport will host its annual St. Patrick’s Day run. Participants are encouraged to don festive attire. The four-mile race begins just south of the intersection of Westport Road and Pennsylvania Avenue, and features photo-op inflatables and backdrops for friends and family to create memorable pictures.
Family Treasure Hunt at SEA LIFE
SEA LIFE is hosting a family treasure hunt, where visitors can join a pirate crew in different adventures to find Captain Careless’s lost treasure. The event is included with the price of General Admission and will take place all weekend long.
