The Pitch’s 2024 Summer Guide: Kansas City’s Best Events

Welcome to The Pitch’s 2024 Summer Guide! Here you will find an extensive list of diverse events taking place throughout Kansas City and its surrounding areas in May, June, July, and August. Our guide presents an opportunity for our readers to gain insights into a multitude of events designed to delight, surprise, inspire, and entertain in the warmth of Midwestern summer.

Juneteenth Celebrations

You can be a part of history, pay homage to our past, and celebrate our freedom every June with a series of celebrations honoring Juneteenth. Events range from the 3rd Annual Miss JuneteenthKC Pageant at the Gem Theater to the Juneteenth KC Cultural parade and the 5th Annual Peace March & Rally.

Pride Events

May and June are painted rainbow in Kansas City with a series of events celebrating Pride. Highlights include the Queer Bar Takeover, Missouri Gay Rodeo, and the city-wide KC Pridefest.

Fourth of July

The Fourth of July in Kansas City is a spectacle you do not want to miss. Join the Stars and Stripes Picnic at the National WWI Museum and Memorial, the Liberty 4th Fest, or the 4th of July Fireworks at the College Boulevard Activity Center among many others.

Stages

From May through August, Kansas City offers a diverse Stages program featuring local and international comedy, music, and theater acts, among others. Some of the most anticipated artists include Greta Van Fleet, Tech N9ne, James Taylor, and Charley Crockett, to name a few.

Art and Exhibits

Art lives and breathes in Kansas City, and this summer features an extensive list of art and exhibits. From the Brookside Art Annual to the Art On The Side exhibition and the Summer Chill Art & Craft Expo, the city thrives with creativity throughout the season.

Food and Drink

Welcome to a city that reveres food! The KC Feastival at Union Station, Tacos and Tequila Festival, Great Lenexa BBQ Battle, or Kansas City Irish Fest at Crown Center– there is an endless variety of Food and Drink events throughout the summer.

Wellness

Take care of your mind, body, and spirit by joining events designed to promote wellness. You can participate in yoga, hiking, 5K races, or play pickleball, among many other activities.
