This weekend, **Kansas City** is brimming with excitement as it hosts the 45th Ethnic Enrichment Festival at Swope Park. Running from Noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, this vibrant festival celebrates cultural diversity and offers a chance for the community to explore different heritages through food, music, and art.
Attendees can look forward to a lively atmosphere filled with a colorful parade of flags, numerous booths, and a delightful array of international foods. This year, the lineup includes several new entries, such as India, Cameroon, and Eritrea, giving visitors even more opportunities to expand their taste buds and cultural knowledge.
Leah Walker, a long-time festival-goer, shared her thoughts, saying, “I just feel like it’s so important to know your culture, where you came from, and to know about your history.” Newcomers are also joining in on the fun. Lucy Liu, manning the Taiwan booth, expressed her enthusiasm about attending for the first time, stating, “I really like this!”
Bret Thompson, dressed in traditional lederhosen, is among the 40 performers taking center stage throughout the weekend. He also dished out some of his top food recommendations: “You’ve got to check out Hawaii, Germany, and the Philippines.”
And the festival isn’t just for adults! Kids can participate in a fun activity where they receive a passport that gets stamped at each booth they visit. The first 100 children to complete their passport each day will win a special prize.
Admission for adults is just $5, while children aged 12 and under enjoy free entry. It’s a perfect weekend getaway right in the heart of Kansas City, offering a taste of the world without ever needing a plane ticket.
