KC Engineering Firm Contributes $5K to Tornado Recovery Efforts
OLATHE, Kan.: A Local Engineering Philanthropy Outlines Support for Tornado Victims
In a recent announcement, a local Kansas City engineering consulting firm known as Terracon Foundation divulged that it has made a $5,000 contribution towards tornado recovery efforts for recent disaster victims. The foundation extends this financial support in the form of two $2,500 donations to internationally recognized relief agencies.
This charitable act aims to amplify the capacity for post-disaster rehabilitation following the destructive twisters that struck at the end of April. The benefactor organizations include Direct Relief and Tornado Relief Fund at The Center for Disaster Philanthropy.
As Derek Koller, CIH, CHMM, the present chair of Terracon Foundation and a Tucson-based office manager noted, “We feel a deep sense of responsibility towards the communities afflicted by this spring’s catastrophic tornadoes. Our hearts go out to those grappling with the aftermath.”
A Strategic Distribution of Funds for Greater Impact
The generous donation from the Olathe-based Terracon Foundation will be utilized by the recipient organizations to address different aspects of disaster relief. As per the announcement, Direct Relief will use the funding for supplying essential medication and hygiene kits to shelters and clinics in the affected regions.
On the other hand, the Tornado Relief Fund is expected to focus on advocating for the medium and long-term recovery for the marginalized and particularly at-risk populations who have been displaced or severely affected by the tornadoes.
