Kansas City Tragedy: Man Mauled by Pack of Dogs

In a shocking and tragic incident in Kansas City, Missouri, a man has lost his life after being attacked by a pack of dogs. The heartbreaking event took place on Saturday, November 2, when police received alarming reports from the 3200 block of East 80th Street about an animal attack.

According to officials, officers arrived to find multiple dogs viciously attacking the victim, identified by his family as Chris Culbertson. A second person who was also attacked reached out to the police, adding more gravity to the grim situation. After sustaining life-threatening injuries, Culbertson was rushed to a local hospital but sadly passed away on Wednesday.

A Family’s Grief

In an emotional statement to the media, Angela Culbertson, Chris’s sister, shared her desire for the world to remember him as a joyful individual who adored his family, his work in construction, and simply enjoying life. Angela released disturbing surveillance footage captured during the attack that showcases just how severe the situation was. The shocking 23-minute video shows Chris riding his bike down East 80th Street when he was abruptly confronted by a group of aggressive dogs.

The Attack Unfolds

The footage reveals the harrowing moments as seven dogs launched a relentless assault on Chris. “He couldn’t fend them off anymore,” Angela explained, her voice filled with anguish. “He was reaching up trying his best, but it just wasn’t enough.” The video concludes on a desperate note, capturing the efforts of firefighters and police officers attempting to rescue Culbertson before he was taken to the hospital.

Gripping Medical Details

In a gripping revelation, Angela disclosed what doctors told the family after Chris’s surgery: he had sustained over 300 dog bites, received more than 500 stitches, and endured 100 lacerations on his body. “They ripped his cheek off, his chin, even the heels of his feet,” she recalled, clearly devastated by the devastating injuries her brother suffered.

Investigations Underway

Authorities, including the Kansas City Police Department and the Kansas City Pet Project, are currently conducting an in-depth investigation into this tragic event. Angela emphasized that the blame lies squarely with the dog owners. “It’s the owners that should be held accountable, they trained these dogs to be vicious,” she argued passionately.

Ongoing Safety Concerns

Angela also expressed concerns about the fate of the dogs involved in the attack. She revealed that the seven dogs were still at their residence with a fence that appeared broken. “I don’t understand how a dog can attack a human and face no consequences,” she criticized. “What about the people who own these dogs? Why aren’t they facing criminal charges for training their pets to be aggressive?”

Community Response

A disturbing sight outside the dog owners’ property showed a breached fence, as one dog was seen outside, raising alarms about community safety. Meanwhile, the second victim from the attack was taken to the hospital in serious condition, highlighting just how severe the situation has been.

Awaiting Answers

As Kansas City residents grapple with this shocking event, the community is left with many questions. What actions will be taken against the responsible parties? How can incidents like this be prevented in the future? The Kansas City Pet Project has been contacted, but it remains unclear whether all the dogs will stay at their address while investigations continue.

Stay tuned as this jaw-dropping story unfolds further, and let’s hope for justice and improved safety measures in the community.
