KC Sipps: Planning Your Weekend Eats Around Three “New” Spots, Plus AAPI and Cinco de Mayo Celebrations

In less than a week, Kansas City’s culinary scenes are about to get spiced up with a plethora of options that will satisfy foodies and casual diners alike with an array of exciting new attractions and events to explore.

Exploring New Venues

Vintage 78 Wine Bar – It’s time to raise a glass and toast to Overland Park’s Vintage 78 Wine Bar as they clinch the ‘Star Wine List’ award for their remarkable wine selections. This prestigious global wine guide lists only four Kansas spots currently, placing Vintage 78 Wine Bar in a league of its own.

Nighthawk – Experience a dash of flamboyance at the Nighthawk, Hotel Kansas City’s basement bar. It has rolled out a glitzy new weekly show ‘Nightingales’ – an opulent evening of drag illusion presented by Daisy Buckët, featuring a diverse range of performances weekly.

Onto New Horizons

The sky’s the limit at Loews Hotel’s rooftop bar – Horsefeather Social now opens its doors to visitors. Featuring a variety of food, drinks, and daily specials such as Thursday Taco Night, Industry Sundays, live music on weekends, and First Friday Cookouts.

For the sweet toothed patrons, Sweet Granada, an Emporia-based sweet shop will set up its second home at the Red Bridge Shopping Center. Known for its handcrafted chocolates and iconic combination of Westwood’s Velvet Creme popcorn and their specialty chocolate aptly named Pop-Choc.

Legacy Leaves

P.S. Coffee, a beloved South KCMO’s coffee shop and drive-through, closed its doors permanently on April 30, leaving behind a cherished legacy and a string of coffee-loving patrons.

Fiestas and Celebrations

Mark your calendars for May 4 and 5 as they bring a cultural extravaganza. The taste of Asian American and Pacific Island cultures will be honored at Taste of AAPI inviting guests to delve into the traditional flavors and customs of various AAPI communities.

On May 5, celebrate Cinco de Mayo dedicated to Mexico’s victory over the Second French Empire in battle and manifested in fun and flavorful events across the city.
