Kansas City Community Enthusiastically Participates in Local Happenings
With the last days of April fast approaching, Kansas City residents continue to enjoy a wide range of community events. From town meetings and block parties to multicultural fairs and soccer clinics, the community calendar is filled with opportunities for locals to engage, learn and have fun.
Lively Discussions at the Historic Northeast Lofts Public Meeting
On Wednesday, April 24, Kansas City residents are invited to a public engagement meeting discussing the potential redevelopment of the former Hardesty Federal Complex, now known as the Historic Northeast Lofts. The meeting, scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm, will be held at the offices of the Northeast Chamber of Commerce on Independence Avenue.
Orchard Celebration in Pendleton Heights
A couple of days later, on Friday, April 26, community members are invited to celebrate at the Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Orchard. Attendees will meet at the orchard at Montgall & Lexington Avenues at 4:30 pm.
Food, Fun, and Games at the Don Bosco Block Party
Also slated for Friday, April 26, is the much-anticipated Don Bosco Block Party. To be held at 526 Campbell Ave., the event runs from 5 to 9 pm and features food, games, live music, and more. Info about this event can be found at the Don Bosco community website.
Saturday Events: Go Native, Goal for Health
On Saturday, April 27, the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center at 4750 Troost is hosting an event called Go Native from 10 am to 2 pm. This event encourages locals to learn and celebrate Missouri’s native plants. Tours of the Discovery Center’s landscape will be happening throughout the day where experts are available to answer any question. Free plant and grass seeds and tree seedlings will also be available.
Concurrently, from 11 am to 3 pm, locals can also participate in the free “Goal for Health” soccer clinic and health fair at the Van Brunt Soccer Field. The event, sponsored by the Kansas City Parks & Recreation and University of Kansas Health System, includes food, prizes, and a live DJ performance.
Kansas City Symphony in the Park
On Tuesday, May 7, Kansas City residents are invited to bring their lawn chairs and picnic baskets and join the Kansas City Symphony in the Park. The community concert, signaling the arrival of the spring, will be celebrated at Indian Mound Park at Belmont and Gladstone Blvds at 6 pm.
The city’s community calendar continues to offer a diverse array of events for the populace, allowing locals to foster a strong sense of camaraderie while enjoying the various activities that Kansas City has to offer.
