Exciting Partnership Launches Unique Streetwear Collection in Kansas City
Hey, Kansas City! Have you ever thought about what happens when two creative forces come together? Well, get ready for a stylish ride as MADE MOBB and SewKC just dropped a one-of-a-kind collection that brings together neighborhood history and some seriously trendy streetwear. This collaboration, named Stitching KC Together, is all about patchwork, pride, and creativity!
We’re talking about a limited run of just 100 quilt-lined, corduroy-collared, cropped-hem black jackets that are perfect for chilly weather. But wait, there’s more! You can customize your jacket with some amazing MADE MOBB/Sew KC/Crossroads embroidered patches. How cool is that? Plus, if you’re lucky, you might snag one of the special jackets that boasts an East meets West Crossroads design on the back. Talk about making a statement!
The big launch party is happening this Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the popular December First Friday event at MADE MOBB, located at 221 Southwest Boulevard. You’ll have a chance to pick out your jacket and patches, and even design your very own patch layout with the help of the talented SewKC team who will be on-site to help bring your ideas to life!
The brains behind this collaboration, Jesse Phouanphet of MADE MOBB and Johnny Dawbarn of SewKC, have a cool story. They’ve been friends for a decade! They’ve watched each other grow in this creative small business scene, and they decided it was high time to celebrate that history through this collection. As Jesse says, “The Midwest is all about craftsmanship, very blue collar.” And you can really see that spirit woven throughout the entire collection!
But that’s not all, folks! Alongside these fantastic jackets, you can grab some stylish beanies and even bring in your favorite jacket from home for a little customization magic. The focus here is on individualism, the chance to express yourself, and of course, bringing people back into the shops for some good old-fashioned shopping. With our fast-paced online shopping world, it’s nice to pause and appreciate the tactile experience of touching, trying, and customizing your clothes!
It’s not just about style; it’s about history too! Did you know that the MADE MOBB storefront used to be a mechanic shop? And SewKC was once a glass and wallpaper store? Both businesses are steeped in creative history, and this collection pays homage to that by highlighting the journey of the Crossroads neighborhood.
To make the event even more thrilling, First Friday gatherings will feature local vendors, tasty food trucks, and live performances by One Mic Stand KC. What’s better than kicking off the holiday season with a celebration of local talent, delicious food, and trendy jackets? It’s a great excuse to get out with friends and family while supporting our local community!
If you can’t make it to the grand launch on Friday, don’t fret! The remaining jackets from the 100-piece run will still be up for grabs at MADE MOBB. You’ll still have the chance to design your patch layout, and the jacket will be customized just for you at SewKC afterwards. It’s all about ensuring everyone gets a piece of this fabulous collaboration.
So, Kansas City, mark your calendars for this amazing event that promises to be as stylish as it is fun! Let’s embrace the creative spirit of our community by supporting local makers and getting our hands on some custom streetwear that tells a story.
