As we wake up on Tuesday morning, we’re in for some seriously chilly weather. Forecasters predict that temperatures could be at or below zero degrees! Combine that with wind chill values plunging between -10 to -25 degrees, and it’s a recipe for some potentially dangerous conditions. It’s important to note that frostbite can set in within as little as 30 minutes if you’re exposed to temperatures around -25 degrees. So, don’t forget to bundle up and stay safe!

School Closures and Delays

Lawrence Public Schools have announced a full cancellation of classes.
Raytown Public Schools will go virtual, making it a day of online learning for students.
Blue Valley Schools will start two hours later than usual, focusing on keeping everyone safe.
Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools are following suit with a two-hour delay, but their early childhood centers will be closed for the day.
Olathe Public Schools will also be starting two hours late and have decided to operate under “Plan C,” meaning staff will come in two hours later than their norm.
Park Hill School District and De Soto School District will have a two-hour delay.
Turner School District is on board with a similar two-hour delay.
Kansas City Public Schools will be using an AMI day, replacing in-person instruction with online learning from home.
Lone Jack C-6 Schools will see a delayed opening at 9:50 a.m.
Belton School District has cancelled in-person classes and will rely on their fifth AMI distance-learning day.
Center School District has chosen to close for the day.
Leavenworth USD 453 and Kearney School District will both begin their day two hours late.
Pleasant Hill Schools have opted to cancel in-person classes and conduct a virtual day.
Smithville School District, Spring Hill Schools, and Unified School District 232 will also be on a two-hour delay.
