Kansas City Prepares for New Cohort of Rising Businesses

Aspiring entrepreneurs and local businesses in Kansas City with a proven annual revenue of $250,000 and a robust market are invited to apply for a game-changing program. This initiative, dubbed ScaleUP! Kansas City, aims to help propel their ventures to greater heights.

The ScaleUP! Kansas City Program

Rolled out by the UMKC Innovation Center, ScaleUP! Kansas City is currently accepting applications for its zero-cost cohort that will run from Aug. 8 to Nov. 21. With the goal of training Kansas City business owners for scalable growth, the program includes a comprehensive 16-week curriculum featuring expert speakers, one-on-one business coaching, and peer mentoring.

Upon successful completion of this immersive program, business owners will be equipped with voracious tools to upscale their enterprise. The dynamic venture demonstrates its potency intending to propel businesses beyond $1 million+ in sales.

Eligibility for ScaleUP! Kansas City

The program requires applicants to lead a company minimum for two years with at least two employees, besides a minimal annual sales return of $250,000. Furthermore, applicants should harbor a thriving market that can drive soaring sales beyond the $1 million mark. Most importantly, the drive to excel as one of the next generation business leaders in Kansas City is a critical eligibility criterion.

Benefits of the Program

Former attendee of the program, Brittany Fugate, calls ScaleUP! Kansas City an equivalent to an accelerated MBA. According to her, the program covers all you need to know to scale your business, including leadership, financing, and sales/marketing insights. Her company, Cenetric, doubled its revenue after attending ScaleUP! Kansas City.

Similarly, Tom Assel, founder of Assel Grant Services, credits ScaleUP! Kansas for helping him think bigger about his business and identify systems and processes that allowed for exponential growth.

Among the most outstanding results for companies that have participated in the program, web see a consistent pattern of increased revenues, facility expansion, and job creation. Stephanie Sage, the founder of Sage Restoration (Cohort 1), acknowledged that the program was instrumental in the scaling of her restoration business.

Funding and Support

The initiative lays significant focus on supporting growth-oriented entrepreneurs, especially from under-resourced communities and segments. Financial support for ScaleUP! Kansas City comes from the Missouri Small Business Development Center at the University of Missouri – Kansas City and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

Running this game-changing initiative is the administrative support, coaching, and innovation nurtured by the ELEVATIONLAB Entrepreneurial Education, a program situated under the UMKC Innovation Center.
