Connecting Kansas City: 339-unit Apartment Complex Breaks Ground in the Northland

New Development To Enhance Kansas City’s Northland

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A significant milestone in Kansas City’s ongoing urban development was achieved on June 4th, when NorthPoint Development officially broke ground on a new $80 million apartment complex in the heart of the Northland area. Situated behind NorthPoint’s Headquarters, east of Waterworks Park and off North Oak Trafficway, this ambitious project is poised to transform the face of the city’s northern district.

The new complex, fittingly named Ascent, will comprise a total of 339 units distributed across four separate buildings. As stated by Brent Miles, founding partner of NorthPoint, it will feature a host of high-end amenities tailored for a modern lifestyle, including a rock climbing wall, golf simulators, and a pickleball court.

Positive Impact on Kansas City’s Development and Connectivity

Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) CEO, Frank White III, echoed excitement about the new development. He highlighted its prospective role in contributing to important city connectivity enhancements and instigating much-needed growth in the area. “It will bring more density back to the city,” said White. “More residents making higher incomes will provide services and make the city a destination.”

The Ascent complex is also expected to bolster local businesses and spur the creation of new ones, including retailers, banks, and eateries. These insights were confirmed by Miles, who underscored the project’s innate potential to stimulate economic activity and rejuvenate the area.

Expected Completion and Move-In Dates

As per the announced plans, the first residents are slated to move into the Ascent in December 2025. The project’s completion is anticipated by the close of 2026, setting the stage for a revitalized and vibrant Northland.

Boost for the Local Economy

This promising project not only represents another significant stride in the densification and modernization of Kansas City, but it also demonstrates the potential of such developments to create local jobs, inject vitality into the local economy and significantly increase the overall living standard of the area’s inhabitants.

The Ascent could well mark the launch of a new era for the Northland, one that celebrates progress, community growth, and a commitment to enhancing living spaces for the benefit of all Kansas City residents.
