An Amber Alert was issued for both cases, prompting local authorities to respond swiftly. While Sophia’s case raises concerns due to a no-contact order involving a man she was last seen with, authorities confirmed baby Armon is safe after his mother was taken into custody. The community remains vigilant in their support and awareness during these troubling times.
Kansas City is buzzing with concern as an Amber Alert was issued late Wednesday night for a missing teen and an alarming situation involving a 9-month-old baby. The Missouri State Highway Patrol stepped in after a similar alert was set off earlier in Wisconsin, shining a much-needed spotlight on two troubling cases.
Meet Sophia Franklin, a 16-year-old girl who was last seen at her home around 9:00 p.m. on February 2. She’s not just any teen; Sophia is around three months pregnant, adding extra urgency to her case. Authorities believe she may be traveling with a 40-year-old man named Gary F. Day, who was spotted at her residence just before 8 a.m. on February 3.
Things are even more complicated for Sophia, as there’s a no-contact order in place for Gary, which is raising alarms among law enforcement. The last known sighting of them was in a sleek black 2014 Buick LaCrosse, decked out with license plates from both Arkansas and Pennsylvania. Authorities suspect that the pair might be making their way south to Arkansas.
The alert was triggered when Wisconsin officials reached out to Missouri around 7:45 a.m. on February 3, signaling that something was amiss with Sophia’s disappearance. She’s described as a white female, around 5-foot-9, weighing about 185 lbs., with brown hair and striking blue eyes. Meanwhile, Gary stands at approximately 5-foot-7 and weighs around 165 lbs., featuring blond hair and green eyes.
Officials are actively searching for the pair and have dispatched alerts across several Missouri counties, including Boone, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau, Morgan, Pettis, and Saline. The community is rallying together, keeping a keen eye out for any information that may lead to locating Sophia and ensuring her safety.
Fortunately, law enforcement acted quickly and located Traci just one hour after the alert went live. She has since been taken into custody, and it has been confirmed that baby Armon is safe and now with a relative. This is certainly a relief for the community, as concerns about the child’s welfare took precedence throughout the day.
However, it’s important to note that Traci Calvin, only 24 years old, has a troubled past, including a 120-day sentence for armed robbery just last year. Given her background, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Armon’s safety will continue, with family services stepping in to ensure he has a secure environment moving forward.
The swift actions of law enforcement in both cases show how seriously the community and authorities take these alerts. Residents are encouraged to stay vigilant, share information, and support one another during these unsettling times. The dual alerts serve as reminders of the unpredictability in our neighborhoods, but they also highlight the power of community response and support.
As investigations unfold, residents of Kansas City stand geared up and watchful, hoping for the safe return of Sophia and continued protection of little Armon. Keeping an eye on the future, let’s hope for brighter days ahead.
