KC’s New Hidden Gem: ‘In Good Company’ Cocktail Bar Opens in East Crossroads

If you find yourself wandering the streets of Kansas City, a fresh new spot has just opened its doors, and it’s one you won’t want to miss! Say hello to In Good Company, a brand new cocktail bar located at 1518 McGee St. in the vibrant East Crossroads district. Tucked away with a sleek black facade, this venue doesn’t rely on flashy neon signs or a bright marquee to catch your eye. Instead, it offers a unique approach, aiming to draw in a more mature and sophisticated crowd.

Creating the Right Atmosphere

The philosophy behind In Good Company is simple yet profound: “Good people. Good drinks. Good vibes.” The owners, who happen to be long-time friends and former college roommates at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, envisioned a friendly and relaxed atmosphere where everyone can unwind. With over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, co-owner Cedric Ransburg has honed his skills both in Kansas City and Los Angeles. Partner Daniel Edwards brings his expertise as an architectural engineer and former commissioner for Kansas City’s Economic Development Commission, ensuring the venue combines style with function.

A Unique Membership Model

Starting in March, In Good Company will transition to a membership-based structure, but don’t worry; for now, it’s open to everyone! Memberships will cost a minimum of $50 per month, which will include four drink credits and allow members to bring up to four guests during their visits. Imagine having a place where you can enjoy cocktails with friends in a cozy environment, all for a small fee! And the best part? Members will enjoy unrestricted access during operating hours.

What to Expect Inside

When you step inside the bar, the ambiance screams “living room chic.” With multiple seating areas and exposed brick walls, plus a stunning 30-foot ceiling crowned by a skylight, you’ll feel right at home. If you’re looking for a comfy spot to people-watch, head upstairs to the loft, which features plush recliners that invite you to sit back and relax.

As for the cocktails? They won’t disappoint! Right now, you can enjoy creative offerings like the East of Bartle Hall and the Revolver, with a brand new cocktail menu making its debut in March to keep things fresh and exciting.

More than Just Cocktails

In Good Company isn’t just about serving drinks; it aims to cultivate community and creativity. Inside, you’ll find a vision board where members can share their dreams and aspirations, fostering a sense of belonging. Plus, the bar plans to highlight local talent with an artist-in-residence program, giving emerging artists a platform to showcase their work while also engaging with the community.

Looking for a place to host an event? In Good Company boasts a DJ booth and is available for private events, making it a versatile space for any occasion.

Operating Hours

Curious about when you can swing by? In Good Company is open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 4 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The bar is closed on Sundays through Tuesdays, but that just gives you more reason to plan the perfect night out!

Aiming for Community Engagement

One of the unique features about In Good Company is that members will have a voice in choosing the music played during their visits. Additionally, the staff will have a microphone to announce members upon entry, further enhancing the welcoming vibe. Co-owners are aiming to attract about 500 members, but for those who aren’t ready to commit just yet, there will be day passes available for non-members to experience the ambiance and value of this chic bar.

So, if you’re on the lookout for a peaceful, classy spot to sip cocktails with friends, keep In Good Company in mind. It’s set to become one of Kansas City’s go-to destinations for good drinks and even better company!
