A Community United: HCA Midwest Health Hosts Annual We Show Up for Our Communities Week in Kansas City

Overview

Overland Park, Kan. — Today marks the start of an ambitious initiative, “We Show Up For Our Communities Week,” a much-anticipated annual event hosted by HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s largest healthcare provider. From April 15 to 26, HCA Midwest Health physicians and colleagues will dedicate their time and resources to local community partners in an effort to have a positive and tangible impact on the lives of Kansas City residents.

“Our goal is to deliver high-quality, compassionate healthcare that our patients deserve, while also identifying and addressing needs in the communities we serve,” said Keith Zimmerman, President of HCA Midwest Health. He stated, “We Show Up for Our Communities Week is just one among the numerous ways our organization strives to demonstrate that our commitment to care extends way beyond the clinical facilities—we are committed to the places we call home.”

Community Collaborations

Throughout the course and after “We Show Up for Our Communities Week,” HCA Midwest Health colleagues will team up with a number of local organizations. Some of these partners include the Great Jobs KC and Girl Scouts. The lofty goal to create “healthier tomorrows” for Kansas City region residents underpins these collaborations which will include a series of events dedicated to provide hands-on volunteer service.

Local Events Schedule

Among the scheduled events for this year’s program are food donations drives; a Mental Wellness Patch Workshop in collaboration with Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri to help destigmatize mental illness; a Healthcare Job Fair; a variety of food sorting and packing activities for those facing food insecurity; a Wipeout Toilet Paper Drive, and, a 10,000 PB&J sandwiches making challenge as part of the Just a Sandwich initiative. There will also be a taco dinner preparation and service in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Lexington for community members in need.
