A Disturbing Case of Solid Gun Theft and Online Sale in Kansas City Comes to Light

The Heinous Crime: Over 100 Guns Stolen and Sold on Social Media

In a severe outbreak of law and order, Federal District Court of Kansas City last week issued a verdict over a nerve-jangling case. The criminal case centered around a conspicuous crime spree, where five men engaged in the rampant breaking into vehicles, majorly in the Westport entertainment district and other parts of the metropolitan area. On gaining access to these vehicles, they stole more than 100 firearms. The next facet of this crime was the bold yet shockingly unassuming selling of these stolen firearms on their personal social media accounts.

Bobby Lamb, one of the accused, was prosecuted and sentenced by U.S. District Judge Greg Kays to 11 years in the federal prison without the possibility of parole. Lamb was further ordered to pay $1,500 in restitution.

Lamb’s Guilty Plea and Unfolding Criminal Charges

On the 29th of September, 2023, Lamb pleaded guilty to the charges of conspiracy to receive, possess, and dispose of stolen firearms. In addition, he confessed to the accusations of possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute, owning a firearm to further a drug-trafficking crime, and, importantly, possessing a stolen firearm.

It was made clear in his admission that he actively partook in a conspiracy that saw several vehicles broken into with the intent to steal firearms and other valuable items. Thereafter, these stolen firearms were advertised for sale on various social media platforms. Shockingly, a portion of these sales was made to individuals who were legally prohibited from possessing firearms.

From June 18 to Nov. 19 of the year 2021, a whopping 100 plus firearms were stolen by Lamb and his co-conspirators. This was retrieved from official court documents. Lamb was apprehended on Sept. 16, 2021, at which point he was found in possession of a stolen Glock 9mm handgun.

Co-conspirators Await Sentencing

Bobby Lamb is the first defendant who has been sentenced in this blatant violation of law and safety. His co-defendants, all originating from Kansas City, Mo., are waiting for their respective sentencing. Drevion Hooker, who also is 22, is awaiting his sentence on Sept. 4, 2024. The sentencing for Rayquan Duane Pettaway, 25, is scheduled for Aug. 28, 2024. Treyon Bloodsoe, another 22-year-old, is arranged to be sentenced on July 24, 2024, while Roy Rushing, 26, is to be presented before the court for sentencing on Oct. 2, 2024.

This case marks a grave violation of firearm safety and aids the unlawful possession of dangerous weapons, posing a severe threat to society. As the remaining defendants await their sentencing, the episode serves as a harsh reminder of the responsibility, legality, and potential dangers involved in firearm possession.
