Kansas City Residents Distressed as Gas Station Robbery Escalates into Shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Residents upset after gas station-robbery turns into shooting

A disturbing robbery turned shooting in one East neighborhood has residents fed up. It was all caught on camera at a gas station near East 45th Street and Cleveland Ave. on Feb. 22. In the video, you see the victim get out of his car and gives a guy in a white hoodie a dollar. As the victim goes to get back in his car—the other suspect comes up to him and shoots him. The victim falls to the ground—the suspects don’t stop. They rob the man’s car and even go through his pockets while he’s down on the ground.

Oxler said they’re still searching for the three suspects and need help from the community.

Loneva Hutton, a resident in the neighborhood, expressed her concerns:

Loneva Hutton has lived a few doors down from the gas station for over 20 years. Hutton said she keeps to herself and stays inside.

When KCTV5 showed Hutton the pictures of the suspects, she said she sees them walking through the area quite often.

KCPD said the victim of the shooting has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
