Kansas City, May 16, 2024 –
If you’re on the hunt for enticing culinary delights, you’re in luck. This week, Kansas City is gearing up for an exciting, tasty weekend filled with various food pop-ups, exciting drink offerings, and more. Don’t miss out on these opportunities to add a little spice to your weekend while supporting local businesses.
Just off Mass Street in Lawrence, Caramelo is making waves with its Sonoran-style flour tortillas. Usually only available at a range of local restaurants, they have now opened their production facility to the public. Stop by during weekdays to purchase fresh tortillas, totopos, and other goods. Also, make sure to visit on Saturday afternoons when Caramelo transforms into a taqueria serving wood-fired carne asada.
Starting from 8 p.m., Up-Down arcade and bar in Crossroads will be transporting patrons back to the era of The Breakfast Club. Spend a night gaming, drinking, or just hanging out on the multi-level patio, all in the theme of one of the 80s’ most iconic films.
If you’re a fan of South Asian cuisine, visit PathLight Brewing in Shawnee from 4 – 8 p.m. This pop-up will serve family recipe Butter Chicken, Masala Fries, Kati Rolls, and Samosas.
Stop by Café Cà Phê from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for Irvzilla’s Hawaiian Grill, where I recommend the fried shrimp! A food truck I discovered at the AANHPI Identity festival last weekend. Don’t miss a chance to grab a sweet drink from the Columbus Park cafe and then indulge lunch from Irvzilla’s.
In Lee’s Summit, Diametric Brewing is hosting GoChew food truck from 12 – 10 p.m. Choose between the GOCHEW Burger or Spicy Pork Sandwich, or just load up on fries while you enjoy Diametric’s Ruby on Rails–an American red pale ale.
Join Cliff’s Taphouse at 6 p.m. on May 20 for a Vegan Wine Dinner. Tickets include a five-course dinner with wine pairings–all fully vegan. Celebrate their three years in business while experiencing unique dishes like focaccia, spring rolls, mushroom scallops, and more, all paired with wines from around the world.
To celebrate both National Barbecue Month and Small Business Month, Slap’s in KCK is partnering with Verizon for a community event that almost sounds too good to be true. The first 100 customers at Slap’s from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on May 22 will receive a free plate of BBQ–no purchase necessary.
